He said that the percentage is translated to 3,034 units of Hilux which makes up to 42% of the total sales of Toyota cars in the state as well as being the number one contributor to the sales in Sabah for UMW. He said "This year, the Hilux continues to dominate. For the first quarter this year, we have delivered 796 units on Sabah roads. This is a six per cent increase compared to 748 units for the same period last year,"
He added sales of Toyota vehicles in Sabah contributes to 7,723 of total units sales in Malaysia which is at 9%. The company’s MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicles) are the second best selling models. This would include the Avanza and the Innova where they contribute to 25% or 1,832 units while the passenger cars which are the Camry, the Corolla and the very popular Toyota Vios comes behind the MPVs at 1,304 units sold. He said that UMW is constantly looking to increase their network in Sabah and in East Malaysia where its current outlets in Kota Kinabalu and Keningau are going through upgrading works.
