The Hummer SUV and pickup trucks are one of the automotive brands which are often associated with the American lifestyle. Founded in 1992, the brand is owned by American automotive giant General Motors where its distinctive design and outlook is always linked with durability and muscle and usually associated with law enforcement agencies.
The Hummer brand is often seen in top television police drama series like Crime Scene Investigation and that is what Hummers are known for. While Hummer trucks are widely available in the US market, it is seen in a more luxury-segment vehicle in the Asian market. This is because of the design and size as well as the pricing of the vehicle after duties for those markets.
The Hummer H3 is one of the top models manufactured by this brand. Although it is no longer in production, it still remains as one of the most recognized cars in the global SUV segment. Other known models from Hummer include the Hummer H3T, the H3X and the Hummer H3 Alpha which is part of the ‘Performance Series’. Meanwhile, the SUV series include the Hummer H2 and the Hummer H2 SUT which is the pickup truck version.
It is understood that Hummer vehicles are not easily available in Asian countries where it is usually imported by independent distributors. After several attempts of takeover and acquisition, the Hummer brand remains in the GM stable. To date, not significant changes have been announced over the Hummer brand although it is gaining popularity among the luxury vehicle segment in Malaysia.
