The report was compiled based on the survey which was conducted throughout the United States, Europe, China and Japan where more than 25% of the respondents stated that they will most likely consider owning a PHEV as and when they are available in their markets. Almost 7% of the total responded that they will ‘definitely consider’ buying a PHEV.

According to Mike Hanley from Ernst & Young Global Automotive Leader, the report concludes that PHEVs would be able to make a significant entrance into the automotive market worldwide in the next coming years. He said "Even if only a small portion of the survey respondents who said they would definitely consider one of these vehicles are serious, there will still be more than enough demand to sell out the estimated 2010 and 2011 production runs of the major and new vehicles manufacturers,"
