Datuk Donald Lim, the deputy finance minister told the cabinet that Proton would be looking at more partnerships where currently they have collaboration efforts with Mitsubishi who have been the engine supplier of the pre-CamPro Proton models as well as some other automotive companies in China and in Iran.

Donald added that the strategic partnership which Proton is interested to go into might not involve equity with one company only and that they are looking for numerous partners in various departments in order for the company to stay competitive in the highly dynamic market. He said that such efforts would ensure that the company could raise its marketability of its models which is moving very positively as well as to increase its operational capabilities to be more efficient.
