They recorded a 49% increase of sales during this period translating to USD56.88 billion a sharp rise form USD37.95billion last year at a time when the company is facing some tough challenges in both legal and the customers’ sentiments after the recent recalls involving more than 8 million vehicles worldwide. For the full fiscal year, Toyota recorded an operating profit of USD1.58 billion and a net profit of USD2.24billion.

The company is forecasting a 48% gain in net profit after the 2009 USD203.42 billion in sales and a 90% increase of operating profit for the current fiscal year. Their best selling model in April is the Prius which was involved in its own recall recently where customers have to wait up to 6 months to get their hands on the hybrid vehicle.
