Audi confirms production of Q3 in Spain starting 2011

He also added that “We will systematically explore our options in the context of the current market crisis. Audi is in a good position. There is currently no urgent need to select additional sites.”

The company had initially intended to have the Q3 produced in the United States but the idea has since been delayed and Spain had been chosen. Frank Dreves, a member of the Production Board commented that “Starting in 2011, the Audi Q3 will be produced to Audi quality standards at the Martorell factory. This gives us additional flexibility regarding future decisions about products. We will begin preparing at once.”

The Q3 is Audi’s version of a small SUV which is sporty which will be part of the Q5 and Q7 family. The higher versions are produced in Ingolstadt in Germany and Bratislava in Slovakia respectively. When the Q3 starts production, the A1 will also follow suit. Q3 is a 5 door SUV where it is designed using the compact car’s model but exuding the space and versatility of a typical SUV.
