2011 Ford Mondeo Facelift comes with more goodies

In Europe, Ford has released images of what would be their new face-lifted 2011 Ford Mondeo where they have put in some nice new designs as well as a new engine to go with it too. The previous model comes with a 2.3 liter Duratec petrol engine and the new face-lifted one will come with a 2.0 liter inline 4 turbo charged engine.

It is now boosted by 237 horses which despite lower cc is about 37 horses more than its predecessor (mostly contributed by its turbo). According to Ford, they have also improved the efficiency of the engine where it now consumes 20% less fuel. If you like, they have also included a diesel engine in the line up where they are also revising the 2.2 liter Ford Duratorq TDCI version. This engine has been given an upgrade where it now produces up to 197 horsepower where it would be sold together with 3 other 2.0 liter Duratorq versions which are the 113, 138 and 160 hp models. Optional on the latter 2 models the rest would get the 6 speed Ford PowerShift double wet-clutch transmission.

For technology, the new Mondeo will be fitted with the Ford ECOnetic Tehchnologies, the Smart Regenerative Charging, Eco Mode and the Active Grille Shutter system which is used to control the airflow coming into through the grilles to help enhance fuel efficiency. In terms of design, you get new looking grilles while LEDs are used for both the front and rear lamps. Driving experience is also enhanced through its smart assist systems like Driver Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System, Speed limiter, Auto High Beam, Rear View camery and a rear door power child lock on the doors. The current Mondeo is on sale in Malaysia for RM174,101 and with the new engines in store, you can most expect it to hit our roads pretty soon and perhaps around the same price bracket.
