The Alfa Romeo GT Blackline Coupe is one of the four models brought into our streets. The standard engine comes in its 2.0liter JTS fitted into its 5 speed gear transmission in the proprietary Selespeed system. It boosts out 165horsepowers and is priced at slightly less than RM220,000 which to a certain extend might be too pricey. Standard accessories here include xenon headlamps, 8 airbags, bucket sports seats and a BOSE designed audio system.
The Alfa Romeo 159 needs no introduction as this is one of the most anticipated models to come to our shores. Priced at RM188,888, the 2.2 liter model comes with the JTS (Jet Thurst Stoichiometric)inline 4 twin cam engine. It also comes standard with the Alfa Romeo’s own Selespeed system which is an automated manual 6 gear transmission. Translated into power and acceleration, this is where you get some 185PS at 6,500rpm and 230Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The 159 comes standard with great comfort and safety features including some 9 airbags, auto driving light control keyless ignition as well as an 8 speaker surround audio system within its leather seats.
For the higher end Alfa lovers, the Brera Coupe and the Spider are both priced at RM308,888 and RM318,888 respectively. Where this is concerned, the Brera is one that uses the 2.2liter engines fitted in the 159 where you will get pretty similar accessories like leather seats and 7 airbags (because it is a coupe, hence lesser airbags) and 8 way adjustable front seats. For the Spider which is its top of the range performance model, you will get the 6 speed Selespeed 2.2liter engine, pretty much the same as the Brera but only comes with a soft convertible top.
From this end, Alfa Romeo in Malaysia has its own set of following and hence any introduction will always be met with some very ardent response but as always, Alfa Romeo’s performance in Malaysia had always been like its car performances, they come in very strong and powerful and then maintains a long time of stability and before you know it, it springs you a surprise or two.
