Alfa Romeo is embarking onto its smallest compact car in the last couple of years where they are looking to compete with the likes of Peugeot 207, Volkswagen Polo, the Mini and of course their Japanese competitors like Mazda2, Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris. Put the Fiat 500 and the Punto into the equation and you have a whole range of choices. To a large extent, the Mito do look alike the soon to be launched 149 which pretty much is a compact, hatchback car that is meant for the sporty and youthful. Somehow or rather, this car will remind you of how nice driving can be.
This car comes with the 1.4 liter engine which is actually the Fiat Punto engine and comes with 2 variants. The standard one and the sporty one. They are both powered through with its turbocharged engine and are differentiated by their gearboxes. The standard version comes with a 5 speed gearbox while the Mito Sport gets you a 6 speed one. From zero to hundred in 8.8 seconds and top speeding at 194 now that tells you something.
One thing about this car is that it really do not get you so much space. While other Alfa Romeos might get you quite a lot in this area, this is one thing you will find to be a bit limited. In fact, many critics have gave their verdict that this car could perhaps be a 2 seater instead which would then give space to more design and accessories. It looks as if, they are trying to emulate what the Mini has done here. Whichever way you see it, this seemed to be Alfa Romeo’s deviant model which looks a bit like one, but does not sound like one. Either way, it is a cool car to have.
