Another M’sian company enters F1 fray

It seems that the Formula 1 sport is catching up in terms of popularity among Malaysians as another company joined the sponsorship trail of F1 teams. The latest sponsor to be seen in F1 cars is ‘QNet’ which was spotted on the side of 2 Virgin Racing cars after the deal was agreed between the company and team owner Sir Richard Branson.

Unlike other Malaysian companies, QNet is actually the subsidiary of QI Group of Companies which is in the international direct selling business. QI is controlled by Datuk Vijay Eswaran, a Malaysian businessman. Apart from the logo being embossed on the car, it was also carried on the overalls of the Virgin drivers, Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi.

The contract was signed and sealed prior to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which was the season ending race where Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel drove home the chequered flag and became the youngest ever world champion. Branson told the media that he is proud of the deal and that both the companies are similar in terms of their expansion of businesses.

Vijay meanwhile echoed Branson’s sentiments that both the companies actually have similar plans to be the best in their fields and as such it is a proud moment for the company to be partnered with Branson.
