Known to many as the “James Bond’s Car”, the Aston Martin exudes luxury, class and quality in the automotive industry. In fact, it remains as one of the most recognized icons of British automobile for many generations and continues to be so until today. Aston Martin and its wings logo is perhaps one of the most prominent emblems which often stands among the top brands in the global market like Ferrari, Porsche and even Rolls Royce.
Aston Martin was a British brand which was founded by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford in 1913. It grew in strength and stature for its exquisite design and portrayal of upper-class standards. Headquartered in Warwickshire in England, Aston Martin has been involved in several rounds of financial changes over the years. Similarly to other British automotive brands like the Mini and Lotus, Aston Martin is not British owned.
The Aston Martin car was popular in the 50s when it was involved in motorsports but it was only in 1964 when the fictional character James Bond used the DB5 in the Goldfinger film that it became hugely popular. To date, Aston Martin has been a mainstay in most of the James Bond’s films.
Aston Martin went bankrupt in the 70s before it was bought by American automotive giant Ford Motor Company in 1994. In 2007, Italian private equity fund Investindustrial bought a major stake in Aston Martin. Meanwhile, Aston Martin is still being regarded to be a brand of luxury and targeted among the upscale consumers.
