Audi is one of the ‘German Big 3’ automotive brands placed alongside BMW and Mercedes-Benz. It is one of the most established automotive brands in the world today which was founded in 1932 in Chemnitz, Germany. Among the 3 major German brands, Audi is often perceived as the least commercial brand although it has produced a range of very impressive models which has taken the world by storm.
The founder of Audi is August Horch and the brand is now under the Volkswagen Group. In 2012, Audo rolled out about 1.4 million vehicles which are rolled-out through its 9 production plants around the world.
Known in the automotive circle as the ‘Four Rings’, Audi has been manufacturing high-technology vehicles for many decades now since its early days of supplying chassis before venturing into motorsports which has given the brand a boost in popularity and stature. Audi’s introduction of using aluminum in its cars during the mid 1990s saw the Audi A2 becoming an icon for the brand which will spur future model productions. To date, the A2 is still considered as the flagship and very much the trademark of the Audi vehicle. It will continue to grow in sales around the 2000s to become a major force it is today.
In Malaysia, Audi markets several models through its A and Q series as well as the extremely popular Audi TT and the R8. It is distributed by Euromobil Sdn Bhd that supports the nationwide sales, marketing and services network for the Malaysian Audi vehicle owners.
