The Malaysian distributor of BMW cars, BMW Malaysia has recently launched the F25 X3 and this comes with the new xDrive20d with a ‘D’ which depicts a diesel powered engine. BMW will only be bringing in the diesel model and they are going all out to roll this model into the streets as there are no plans for the petrol variant to make it here anytime soon.
This model is the replacement model for the E83 and is positioned between the smaller X1 and the obviously larger X5. It comes powered up with a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder common-rail direct injection BMW Advanced Diesel block engine. This is the same powertrain they fitted into the 320d as well as the 520d that gets you up to 184 horses through its 8 speed automatic transmission gearbox.
To say the least, it accelerates pretty well, taking only 8.5 seconds to reach hundred from zero while top speeding at 210 km/h. It also has the best in its class fuel consumption, raking in only 5.6 liters per 100km. The X3 xDrive20d SUV also comes with the BMW EfficientDynamics package where they have put in some very impressive aerodynamics as well as an intelligent lightweight architecture.
On top of that, they also included state-of-the-art technologies here that include Electromechanical Steering, Brake Energy Regeneration as well as the Auto Start & Stop system. Inside the car, you get Nevada leather upholstery in within its matt silver satin trim finish. They have also given more legroom in this one which is about 23mm more at the back as well as 20mm more on the sides. Apart from that, it also comes with xenon headlights, 17 inch alloy wheels and a 6.5 inch system.
The BMW ConnectedDrive is one of the highlights here that allow you to connect your USB devices as well as providing BlueTooth functions. A 12 speaker audio system channels entertainment around the car while optionally, you can also choose to have the BMW Telematics Platform Accessory. The new X3 xDrive20d is sold for RM348,800 with 2 additional packages to choose from namely the Technology Package and Comfort Package where you will have to pay RM28,000 and RM18,000 more.
