Essentially, SAV here means compact SUV where the X1 measures at 4,454 mm long and 1,798mm wide. Surely it is smaller than any of its ‘bigger brothers’ but being smaller than the Nissan X-Trail means that it is actually quite small. Having said that, its wheelbase at 2,760mm is quite long which is quite similar to that of the BMW 3 series.
The X1 comes with 2 engine variants where you can choose either petrol and the diesel ones respectively. At the moment, only the diesel model (xDrive20d) is available while the petrol version which is the sDrive18i will only be available come June this year. The mentioned xDrive20d basically employs the same drive train as the one in the recently launched BMW 320d where it comes with a 2.0 liter common rail Turbo diesel engine mated with a 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox. you will be able to get from zero to hundred in 8.6 seconds in its 177 horsepower and 350Nm of torque engine.
The X1 also comes with a combined fuel consumption of 15.4 km/l and CO2 output of 170 g/km leads and the company is proud to state that this is the most eco-friendly model in its bracket. The petrol version (sDrive18i) meanwhile comes with a 2.0 liter N46 engine which is a rear-wheel drive only version while the xDrive20d comes with all-wheel drive. This means that the petrol version is somewhat an ‘inferior’ model that comes with a 150 horsepower and 200Nm of torque capability. It will take you 10.4 seconds to get from zero to hundred which is quite a far cry from its diesel sibling.
