BMW ups the ante with new 118d Sports Hatch

The 118d is an addition to the already popular 120d which form the entry level models for anyone looking to own a more affordable Beemer, especially one which is smaller and quick. The 118d comes with quite a reputation where it won the 2008 World Green Car of the Year. To say the least, this car is all about fuel economy where its 2.0 liter turbo-diesel engine rakes in 4.51liters per 100kilometers with CO2 emission at 119g/km only. That is pretty impressive already.

The reason for this impressive fuel saving facility is in its fittings here which includes it Electric Power Steering, the BER (Brake Energy Regeneration) the Optimum Shift Indicator on the dashboard as well as the Auto Start/Stop system. With its size, boosting out a whopping 140bhp at 4,000rpm and a maximum torque of 300Nm at 1,750 is not only impressive but is quite unbelievable. It takes you only 9 seconds from zero to hundred with all the typical BMW DNA intact.

It also comes with its nice looking leather strapped steering wheel as well as the twin dials for the air-conditioning. Entertainment is provided via its 6 CD changer in the boot with remote control of the system mounted on the steering wheel. One feature that you can least expect of this car would be the space at the rear where it might be a bit smaller as compared to others in the same segment.

Looking the car, you cannot but like the fact that this is really a handsome and pretty car both at the same time. This means that it caters and augurs well among the male and female drivers. Handsome for the men who are in for the sporty and machoness and pretty for the more feminine female drivers who wants to exude character when driving. Therefore it becomes quite an ideal choice for those who are looking for a Beemer which is not too big and bulky and one who is out for the lifestyle of the young and hip.
