Federal Auto was founded aback in 1960 where it began with distributing Volvo in Malaysia but has since added new brands to its product line which include Mitsubishi and Volkswagen which is part of the company’s effort to increase revenue via diverse streams. Earlier this year (March), they were awarded the sole distributorship to sell the ABT Sportsline and Heico Sportiv which are catered to the Volkswagen and Volvo cars respectively. The ABT Sportsline product are also catered for Audi cars as well.
Apart from selling cars, they have also offered FAST or Federal Auto Sports Tuning, a locally developed brand which provide performance enhancing and sports tuning services. It also provides after-market accessories for its customers. This, according to Cheng is to cater to the needs and demands of the growing sports tuning and after-market accessories market in Malaysia.
Cheng added that Federal Auto has been aggressively investing in developing its assets where as part of their network expansion and upgrading plans have investing some RM30million to further dvelop their Glenmarie and Johor Bahru lands to build modern purpose-built facilities for its product lines. Apart from that, they have also launched 2 new 3S centres this year in Petaling Jaya and in Johor Bahru for its Volkswagen brand with another one planned for October in Glenmarie. Their current building will be expanded where construction work will start this year end and is expected to complete in 3 year’s time. There will be an ultra-modern Volvo showroom amidst the new 26 storey commercial building.
Apart from that, their other branches in around the country, namely Malacca, Ipoh, Johor Bahru and Penang will all be upgraded as well while their multi-brand facility in Johor Bahru that carries the Volvo, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, FAST and a bodywork and paint shop will all be given makeovers as well.
