Ferrari wins at ‘home’ GP

Sebastien Vettel of Red Bull Racing failed to keep the momentum going for the team where he only managed a distance fourth after having failed to match the performance of both the Ferrari and McLaren cars while Nico Rosberg finished fifth for the Mercedes F1 team with Mark Webber finishing on sixth place. Nico Hulkenberg from Williams finished behind him while Robert Kubica on the Renault car finished eighth and it was ‘business as usual’ for 7 times World Champion Michael Schumacher on the Mercedes which finished ninth and Rubens Barrichello of the Williams team completing the points.

Our very own Lotus boys had a race they would like to forget where Heiki Kovalainen finished the race on eighteenth behind the other rookie team which is Timo Glock of Virgin Racing. His team mate, Jarno Trulli had to retire in Lap 46 due to a gearbox failure.

With that result, Mark Webber’s lead in the Drivers’ Championship was very well protected in a way where he is now at 187 points, thanks to the retirement of his closest contender, Lewis Hamilton who crashed out in the race. Not that far away is race winner Alonso who is now at 166 points. With 5 races to go, the title is up for grabs where Webber’s team mate Sebastian Vettel is currently at 163 points. Further down the pack is Felipe Massa who has 124 points and the season is over for Schumacher’s comeback who only has 48 points.

On the Constructors’ Championship Red Bull’s impressive run in the season continues where they lead with 350 points while McLaren-Mercedes is behind by only 3 points. Ferrari is playing catching up with 290 points on third while Mercedes GP is at 158 points. Renault is at 127 while Force India- Mercedes who has been very impressive this season is seventh with 47 points. Sauber and STR both are at 27 and 10 points respectively while the rookie teams have yet to secure any points.
