Now you would be asking what it means and we are telling you that it means ‘open wide and let the sun in’ and that is exactly what Fiat is intending to do with their latest 2012 Fiat 500c. Put on show at the recent New York Auto Show, the new 2012 Fiat 500 Cabrio is supposedly the epitome of Italian design at its best.
Set to start selling beginning of spring this year, it now comes with meticulous craftsmanship and better performance. There will be 2 models that comes with 14 body colour choices while there would be an additional 12 unique seat colour and material colour scheme to choose from. On top of that (pun intended) you can also choose 3 exterior colours on the soft top to customize your own 500.
So how cool is this? Well, one thing for sure it is not just a designer sort of car as it is powered up with a 1.4 liter engine with Fiat’s won MultiAir technology which is made for fuel efficiency and power. It is mated with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox and gets you up to 101 horses which is pretty quick considering the size of this beauty.
The soft top is a premium dual-layer power-operated cover and can be retracted at a speed of up to 100 km/h which is made intelligent among many other things. Inside the car, you will get a leather wrapped steering wheel and its pretty standard trademarks. Apart from that, an LCD monitor is fitted in for navigation and communications features. It also comes with the new eco-Drive system which will collect the data as relates to the efficiency of the car and using the BLUE&ME USB port will transfer this information onto a USB memory stick. The information could then be used on the computer which shows the environmental information including the CO2 emission of the trips taken.
Being a compact car, Fiat has put in lots of efforts here to ensure that you are not short of space. In fact, it has up to 76.2 cubic feet of space, making it a leader among those in the segments. There are quite a lot of leg room for the rear passengers so sitting 5 adults is pretty easy.
