Fiat Automobiles is the company that manufactures and distributes Fiat cars globally. It is owned by the Fiat S.p.A which owns several top automotive brands like Alfa Romeo and Abarth. Fiat is one of the most established automotive brands in the world today with an illustrious history of compact cars that have become icons in their own segments.
This Italian automotive brand was founded in 1899 by Giovanni Agnelli where it recorded more than 1.4 million vehicles rolled out in 2010. Fiat stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino where the first one was produced in 1899 itself.
In the global market, Fiat’s main focus is in the European segment where the demand for economical and efficient city-cars and supermini cars are constantly thriving. In fact, it was recorded that cars in both these segments contributed to 84% of the total sales in 2011. As such, Fiat continues to focus in small cars and do not have any models in the larger car market.
