This would be the third leg of the Formula Drift and would be the season ender as well for this year. The Singapore edition took place in April while on 20-21 November, the Formula Drift travels to Thailand. According to the organizers, they are hoping to bring 50 drifters from all over the region to our shores and strut their stuff here then. Well, the usual suspects like Ryuji Miki of Japan, New Zealand’s Daniel Woodhouse or better known as Fanga Dan while from our own country, we have Ariff Johanis, Azrina Jane, Michael Gan and Hanizam Hamzah of Team Goodyear Malaysia. Tengku Djan who is the reigning Malaysian champion too will be involved.
According to Nasution Abdul Rahman, the Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia, who is the title sponsor of the event, they are upbeat to be associated with Formula Drift as it is currently one of the fastest growing motorsports in the Asean region. He said that with the rich heritage in racing and their affiliation with the sport on so many different levels dating to more than 100 years, they have been able to move forward with what they have learnt to provide more quality products and tyre performance to their customers.
On top of that, you can also expect drivers to come from all over the region including those from the Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand together with the ones mentioned. With the paired drivers drifting so close its almost impossible to tear them apart, this would surely be one of the highlights of the sporting calendar. Organizers and it includes others like BHPetrol who will be the main sponsor while the presentation sponsor is MYEG. Mazda is the Official Car and this will also be officially broadcasted by ESPN STAR Sports.
