Full booking for Nissan Leaf in US 6 months ahead of launch

Carlos Ghosn, the Chief Executive Officer of Nissan confirmed that the 13,000 units set to be marketed in the United States have since been reserved. It will be sold for USD32,780 and customers would only need to pay USD25,280 with government incentives in place. 6,000 orders have since been received in Japan while customers in Europe can start making their pre-orders staring next month.

Nissan’s futuristic EV is considered one of the major products and according to Ghosn, the Leaf is expected to make up 10% of Nissan’s total revenue in the next 10 years as they are targeting to build half a million EV’s by 2012. Nissan is working with Renault in producing EVs. Whether or not it will come to our shores remain to be seen although it might not be in the next year or so but judging by the positive response in the US and how the Prius’ brand was boosted then the Leaf might just do equally as good and eventually reach us.
