The car is developed using the M300 platform and comes with some very nice looking large headlights as well as a bold front grille. The Beat is positioned against cars like the Hyundai i10, the i20, the Fiat Punto and the Polo as well. The petrol version will be fitted with the 1.2 liter Multi Point Fuel Injection petrol engine which boosts out some 82 horsepowers while the diesel one would come with the 1.0 liter 3 cylinder engine mated with 57 horses. According to GM, the body of this car is the toughest in the segment. this is because it is made of 66.5% high strength steel and more than 16% of ultra-high strength steel.
Some of the standard fittings in this car, on the outside would include body coloured bumpers, body coloured door handles and Outside Rear View Mirrors or better known as ORVM as well as the already mentioned big headamps. At its rear is where you get nice looking high tail lights with rear spoilers and chrome finished tail gate handles. Dual tone dashboards outline the inside with leather covered steering wheel and gear knob, adjustable sporty seats and fabric upholstery. Apart from that, it also comes with integrated audio with USB and auxiliary capability, climate control, LCD digital rev counter are also standard accessories.
The Beat would also come with standard feature fittings like Antilock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) EBD dual front airbags and others like seat belt tensioners and belt force limiters. So far, news has it that GM had already started production of the Beat since December 2009 and is expected to roll them out pretty soon. All in all, there would be 6 different variants of the Beat which would be available, 3 for the petrol and 3 for diesel.
