Targeted for customers across 6 continents and in nearly 100 markets, it seems that General Motors are hell bent onto becoming a major force in the automotive market with their new global midsize model, the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. This would be an entirely new model where they are putting in some very fresh ideas into play.

It is supposedly more quiet with its new dual-cockpit interior that also provides more space as well as adopting better quality materials and craftsmanship. It is powered up with a 2.5L four-cylinder Ecotec engine mated with a new generation six-speed automatic powertrain gearbox which is known to be fuel-efficient. It also comes a new and redesigned handling system as well as a aerodynamics. According to the company with its global debut in the United States and China markets, they are looking to launch the new model into another 90 over countries.

Rick Scheidt, the vice president of Chevrolet Marketing said that they are looking to use the Malibu to change the way people think about the brand and to redefine the American midsize car market. It is supposed to be a fuel efficient car that delivers more style, better content as well as superior driving performance. The Malibu is also fitted with 10 air bags, lane departure warning system, a rear view camera system as well as ultra-high-strength steel composites.

Its exterior design borrows some traits from its siblings including the more renowned Camaro and the Corvette all of which are popular as leaders in their own respective segments. The Malibu is a wide car and the new model now comes with a 114 mm shorter wheelbase and 1,574 mm front and rear tracks that are more than 51 mm wider. Apart from that, it also comes with projector HID headlamps, and a dual-element LED taillights which is the same type seen in the Camaro. It is also one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars in this segment as certified by SAE where they have removed 60 counts of wind drag here. It is also fitted with the MyLing Infortainment system inside the car which also provides Pandora internet radio and Stitcher SmartRadio systems respectively. Also included is a full-colour touch screen displays system.
