Seen and launched at the currently going-on KLIMS (Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show) 2010 is the highly anticipated new hybrid model from Honda the Honda Insight. This would be the cheapest hybrid model to be sold in Malaysia where it is priced at RM98,000 only which is about RM7,500 more than the Honda City. Currently, Honda’s Civic Hybrid is the cheapest model in this segment and the new B-Segment Insight now gets everyone buzzing in excitement.
The Insight comes with a 1.3 liter engine with a motor assist electric motor that gets you about 13 horses. Compared to the Civic Hybrid, the same system is adopted but is more powerful with about 5 horses more. The Insight of course is a smaller model in terms of size and is lighter as compared to its bigger sibling and comes with fittings like sensor activated headlights and wipers, automatic climate control system and such. On top of that, you can also choose between the four different colours namely, Dyno Blue Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Premium White Pearl.
Inside the car, entertainment is channeled through its audio player that plays MP3 and WMA as well as allowing USB drives and an auxiliary connection. They have also included a VSA stability control system while safety wise, you get the standard ABS, EBD and rear ISOFIX points. Dual SRS airbags too are standard. Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the distributor of Honda cars here said that they are currently working to reduce the price of its battery replacements and other parts, if possible up to 40%. Having said that replacement of the batteries are not entirely necessary all the time and at the moment, if needed it would cost about RM7,000. Furthermore, the battery comes with a5 year or 140,000kilometers warranty, whichever comes first. You can now view the new Insight at the show where it will be on display until 12 December, after that you would have to head down to the Honda showrooms to view the car.
