Honda M’sia recalls 2009 City and 2009/2010 Jazz

Honda Malaysia will be recalling some 21,956 units of their highly popular Honda City and 1,680 units of their Jazz vehicles. The models involved in the recall are the third generation of the City and the second generation of the Jazz. This means that the Honda City which are made in 2009 and those from years 2009 and 2010 for the Jazz are include so that the company could address the problems with the lost motion springs and retainers.

There are no accidents or problems reported so far so Honda is taking the pro-active step to replace them with countermeasure parts for the lost motion springs which over time could bend or break which might cause noise from the engine and stalling of the engine. Yoichiro Ueno, the Managing Director and CEO of Honda Malaysia said that the company will be sending a formal written request to all their customers to send their affected vehicles to their authorized dealers as soon as possible and apologized for causing the inconveniences. He also said that the current models which are selling are not affected by this recall and that all charges will be borne by the company.

The company is in the midst of preparing the replacement parts. Necessary inspection and replacement will be carried out when the parts are ready, and all charges incurred in the inspection and replacement work will be borne by the company. Honda Malaysia added that all its current selling models are not affected.
