One of the latest prototypes to have come out Honda is its EV (Electric Vehicle)-neo Electric Scooter. They plan to start their lease sales of this revolutionary vehicle by year end and they are targeting the businesses which are involved in services like delivery and such. Designed and developed for durability which is highly required in commercial purposes, the conventional looking scooter surely delivers what it promises.
To begin with, the EV-Neo is powered up by its lithium-ion battery manufactured by Toshiba and a brushless motor. An EV in nature, it also comes with zero emission where you can get about 30 kilometers every charge. Of course, the 30km here refers to constant speed on a flat road which means that if you are going around in slopes and such, it might be slightly less than that. Having said that, the short distance makes it an ideal motor for delivery services which is what they are aiming for as mentioned. What more, in a crowded streets of Japan, which is where the Scooter will start rolling out, swift delivery services are very much demanded.
According to Honda, the Toshiba batteries would charge to 80% of its full capacity in merely 20 minutes on the usual home 200V power plugs while if you want to get up to 100%, it will take a full 4 hours charge. Typically, if you are curious to know what is the power of this motor, it is about the same as a 50cc normal motorcycle. But then again, it looks very much like one, minus the gasoline engine, hence you can easily mistaken that the Neo Scooter is just like ‘any other motorcycle’.
Typically, the Neo Scooter, which was first unveiled at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show is a ‘quiet and clean’ vehicle and is positioned as Honda’s ‘new-generation personal mobility’ products. This also contributes to the direction of the company in rolling out products which are low in carbon as well as naturally practical. Measuring at 1,820mm long, 693mm wide and 1,066mm high, it is small, durable and very practical.
