Hence, as part of their association with the biggest sporting event in the world, HSDM (Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors) and HMC (Hyundai Motor Company) have, under the Social Welfare Department around Malaysia donated 185 Limited Edition FIFA Hyundai premium footballs to 43 institutions. This would be good news for the kids in the institutions who will have a chance to get their hands on the premium balls endorsed by FIFA, the football governing body of the sport.
The move was part of the efforts under the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Programme by HSDM and HMC with the Social Welfare Department of Malaysia’s assistance. It intention of the programme was to help underprivileged students around the country and the footballs were donated on behalf of car owners who bought Hyundai cars.
It was also part of the ‘1 Million Dream Balls for Africa’ project by Hyundai Motor Company where they are hoping that the campaign would provide football fans around the world to help contribute to the African society where the game is not perceived merely as a sport or a game but also a source of inspiration for the children who looks at football for hopes and dreams.
The balls where handed over at an extravagant, special presentation ceremony event at one of the institutions by the Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors Berhad, Mr Dennis Ho and the Deputy General Manager of Marketing and Product Planning for Asia and Pacific Regional Headquarters for Hyundai Motor Company, Mr Park Jin Young to Dato’ Meme Zainal Rashid, the Director General of the Social Welfare Department of Malaysia. The Social Welfare Department will start distributing the FIFA balls to the eligible welfare institutions starting 23rd July.
Mr Ho, said that the FIFA World Cup 2010 is a big event for the sport as well as for the football fans globally and hence the popular game is made more popular particularly this year. Hence, they are promoting the sport and the event so that the kids could enjoy the fun of playing the game as well.
