The Infiniti brand is one that exudes luxury for its driver. Founded in 1989, Infiniti’s headquarters is in Hong Kong and is the subsidiary of the Nissan Motor Company, one of the largest automotive companies in the world. Infiniti’s main market is in the luxury cars segment where its first markets were actually in the United States.
In 1989, the first Infiniti vehicle was rolled out for the North American market. Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds and today, Infiniti is found in more than 15 countries around the world. In fact, the Infiniti brand has been hugely popular in the American market and was not available for Japan until 2013, when it was formally launched as a brand by itself although it is owned by Nissan, a native Japanese automaker.
The Infiniti Q50 was the first Infiniti car to be launched for Japan and this hybrid-powered model. However, Infiniti models had previously existed in Japan through its Nissan counterpart where the Infiniti G was actually the equivalent of the extremely popular Nissan Skyline.
While Infiniti has been very popular in the United States, the expansion plan saw this brand being ‘exported’ to many other countries including Malaysia where it is represented by Infiniti Malaysia. Similarly to other markets, Infiniti Malaysia distributes this brand as a luxury car where the Q60 and Q70 sedan and coupes are available as well as the QX50 and QX70 crossovers. Meanwhile, the Q70 hybrid model is marketed for the local segment starting from RM499,000.
