Jeep is one of the automotive brands in history which had not changed much in terms of design and focus. It has a distinctive brand logo as well as design which have been used for many decades now. This American producer of SUV has been around since 1941 and has often been seen as one of the most prominent icons of American transport.
Jeep is owned by the Chrysler Group LLC which in turn is a subsidiary of Fiat S.p.A, one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the world today. Chrysler Corporation had in 1987 bought over the Jeep brand from its previous owner American Motors where it had previously made pickup trucks apart from its more popular off-road and SUV vehicles.
The Willys MB Jeep was the oldest off-road vehicle ever produced while the second oldest 4-wheel drive brand was the Land Rover while the Jeep has been used for military purposes mainly by the United States Army and its Allies during the world war. As such, the Jeep has often been associated with the green-camouflaged vehicles used by the army around the world as they are designed to be durable, reliable and very robust.
In Malaysia, various models are available including the very popular Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep Wrangler, both of which have been very popular globally as well. In recent years, the front grille of Jeep has become quite a trademark of this brand while there was a time when the Jeep Cherokee was assembled in Malaysia.
