Kia to recapture SUV segment with 2011 Sportage

The compact SUV would be the third generation of this model and it is bigger with more grit. Measuring with a 3.5 inches longer, 0.6 inches wider and 2.4 inches lower than the second generation Sportage, Kia surely has taken what the market wants into this. Peter Schreyer leads the design team which provides you with either a front-wheel drive version or an all-wheel drive one.

If you have seen the Kue concept car at the Detroit Motor Show back in 2007, you will notice some similarities here as according to Schreyer, the new Sportage is designed with a ‘sports car-like ratio between sheet metal and glass’. Apart from that, you also get a new good looking front grille which was displayed at the Frankfurt Motor show the same year.

Inside the car, you will like the striking composition of colours done primarily by the Frankfurt based designers with black being the base. It comes with either part-leather or full leather seats and stitching colours that are contrasting. You get a great new sound system with this as well. The CD player here plays MP3, your USB drives as well as iPods if you like. On top of that, it also comes with a 7.0 inch navigation LCD monitor with Bluetooth connectivity as well as a SmartCard feature. This is where you can get the key-less entry as well as engine start-stop.

Xenon lights welcomes you in front while escort lights illuminates when you reach home. Apart from that, the LED Daytime Running Lights and a rear camera will display on your monitor what is behind when you reverse. Storage space too is abundantly offered here as it is quite a large car where there would be some nice choices of engines here. you can either get the standard 4 cylinder ones or the ultra-efficient V6 engines that are mated with a 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox.
