Malaysia an important market for Honda’s global expansion plans

The newly appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Yoichiro Ueno said that the Malaysia market plays a vital role in the expansion of the company and the growth of its business in the region. This he said is because Malaysia has its advantages of being in an good geographic location and other elements like human resources as well as fundamentals for advanced industries. He said that the success of Honda in Malaysia will be important to ensure its continuity in establishing its brand image across the Asian region.

Ueno was formerly the Assistant Vice President of Automobile Sales of American Honda Motor Co Inc where he was primarily involved with the coordination and planning of the sales and marketing of Honda cars in the United States. The 47 year old said that for the Malaysian market, the company is a well established brand with a strong corporate identity and has been growing steadily and significantly so much so that for the last 3 years, its sales volume has grew by around 18,000 units or on a 2.1% market share.
