The TD2000 is assembled by national car maker Proton (Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd) and Thailand will be their fifteenth country of export. He said that the company is excited to share the concept of classic open top cars with our northern neighbours after the car sparked positive response from people around the world.
Nontapak sucher, the chairman of Tycoon Car said that they are upbeat about the agreement where they are looking to sell 20 or more units of the classic car within the first year of introduction into Thailand. The launch of the TD2000 is scheduled for December 2010 where they are targeting drivers who are in for the romantic bygone era. The design of course is of timeless elegance which is now being given a new life with modern technology, performance and reliability.
The TD2000 Roadster is a car developed by Westmex Ltd, a company from Australia where it was first unveiled at the 1989 Melbourne Motor Show. A consortium led by Teo had in 1998 bought the exclusive rights to manufacture and all its intellectual properties and then in April 2000 began commercially rolling out the reengineered model.
The TD2000 comes with a 2.0 liter, fuel injection engine that gets you up to 130 brake horsepower paired with either a 5 speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission gearbox. It uses a double overhead campshafts with an electronic fuel injection system through its dual ignition and a fully computerized system. It is also equipped with disc brakes on all wheels where its shock absorbers are of the gas-filled hydraulic telescopic types. In terms of its body, the TD2000 is built using fiberglass which are glass reinforced and stainless steel used for its front and rear bumpers which gives it a more classic look. Entertainment is channeled through its CD player and being an open-top in nature, it comes with a fully retractable waterproof top with side curtains as well.
