With a Mercedes, you can rest assure that it will surely be high-tech as well as a pleasure to drive. According to Mercedes, this is a multi-drive platform car which in other words mean that it can use either a plug-in hybrid system or a hydrogen fuel cell which is the structure used in the B-Class F-Cell and gives the F800 a 136 horsepower push and a 214 lb-ft of torque. On its plug-in hybrid system is where you will get the power which will get you from zero to hundred in 4.7 seconds and go to the top speed of 155 mp/h. Together you will then get up to 400 horsepowers through its 3.5 liter V6 engine and the electric motor. Naturally a hybrid car, this is where you can charge its lithium ion batteries using the standard power sockets.
Some of the cool features of the F800 is the ‘Range of Map’ function accessible through its touchpad HMI control System which show shows you how far the car can travel depicted using a 360 degrees image. If you think that is cool, the Traffic Jam Assist system would be way cooler. The Distronic Cruise Control System is an automatic system which pretty much follow vehicles in front of the car and then accelerates and decelerates all the way until it comes to a standstill.
The Pre-Safe system too has been upgraded and its now known as the Pre-Safe 360 which pretty much monitors what is at the rear of the car when the car is idle where the brakes are then activated to avoid any collisions behind. Essentially, the controls and knobs in the F800 are futuristic and ergonomic enough as it is still a concept. Whether or not it gets into production is yet to be seen and if it ever does, all the ‘cool’ features might not be included but like it or not, to know what a ‘smart’ car is, the F800 is the one. And perhaps, it is just a bit too smart.
