For passenger cars, they recorded an increase from 33,992 to 36,551 units while commercial vehicles too recorded an increase from 4,103 to 3,394 units. In total, for the first 2 months of 2010, 82,524 units of passenger cars were sold as compared to 68,621 units in 2009 while 8,752 units of commercial vehicles were sold this year as compared to 6,872 last year.
The MAA also reported that for the month of February, the production of vehicles too recorded a drop from 40,632 units in 2009 to 40,272 units. Out of these, 36,740 are from passenger vehicles while 3,532 units are commercial vehicles. Generally, production of passenger vehicles for the first 2 months recorded an increase from 69,406 units to 82,912 units while commercial vehicles increased by 3 units at 8,656. According to MAA, March 2010 should record better sales because of the seasonal factor.
