This would be good news for Proton car owners because it will surely dispel the old reputation of ‘power window problems’ with Proton cars. The newer generation of Proton cars no longer has the problem but it is one impression which Proton need to shake off.
Hence, they have launched the ‘Power Window Lifetime Warranty’ campaign.
According to Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin, the Managing Director of Proton, he has been ‘obsessed’ with this issue for 5 years now, since he took over the helm at the national carmaker company. In 2006/2007, power window problems were 8.0 of DPU (Defects per Unit) and in August 2010, it has now dropped to 0.26. The new campaign will surely extend the confidence further where Proton buyers will surely have no more preconceptions when buying these vehicles.
The warranty will be extended to all new Proton cars registered from 1 September 2011 and it will be extended for 10 years or 250,000 kilometers. This is basically the ‘lifetime’ of a Proton car. Those which are under the manufacturer’s warranty as at 1 September 2011 would also enjoy the warranty. The main condition is that the Proton car must be serviced at the Proton authorized service centers or the warranty would not be applicable.
