Asif released a statement which read “Currently, there are four passenger and commercial vehicle manufacturers, one motorcycle maker and nine motor vehicle assemblers in Malaysia. It said 76 car importers and 37 franchise holders of various models have been given approvals to import motor vehicles. There are thousands of car workshops and auto accessory shops. Sales of auto parts and accessories in Malaysia are estimated to be worth more than RM4.5 billion a year of which RM3.5 billion worth of products are imported. Malaysia’s automotive sector ranks among the world's top 20 and Malaysia is the largest passenger car market and producer in the Asean region.”
