The 2009 Economique was unveiled at the recent Geneva Motor Show which the company announced that they will start selling this model starting this year. they will be producing 2 trim models named the Economique and the Economique+. Features that are fitted into both the models as standard include Peugeot’s own Unique Aerodynamic Styling package which comes with 15 inch steel wheels and details like black instrument dials, chrome gear knob, black door handles and such.
On top of that it also comes with ABS, EBFD, EBA as well as electric air inlet flap. The Economique also comes with steering column adjustable for each, a ‘one touch’ electric front windows for the dirver as well as remote control central locking amidst its airbags on the side, passenger and driver while the Economique+ comes with air-conditioning, a trip computer and electrically operated and heated door mirrors.
The model comes with Peugeot’s hugely successful 1.6 liter HDi diesel engine with powers of 90 horsepower and 161 lb-ft of torque at 1,750 rpm matted to its 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. As compared to its original model, (207) the people of Peugeot has made some so-called cosmetic changes which is set to make the ride more enjoyable. This includes lowering the car by 5mm and adding an under-tray on both sides of the exhaust system and inserting a 2-part rear spoiler.
Looking at the design, the front has been given a one-piece body with a new black grille the car also comes with3 different colours namely Inari Blue, Bianca White and Thrium Grey. It also incorporates the One-Touch Direction Indicator, made famous by its older ‘brother’ the 308 which is very useful when driving on the highway that activates in 3 different flashes when you drive past the indicator stalk to indicate that it is safe to change lanes. You will also enjoy its CD player that plays MP3 with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, which is pretty standard these days.
