Peugeot sells first 100% electric vehicle, the iOn that mirrors the i-MiEV

The iOn is fitted with an 88 cell lithium-ion battery pack that powers up its electric motors that gets you up to about 63 horsepowers (47kW) and 180Nm of torque. You would not expect this car to be that fast as it takes almost 16 seconds to get from zero to hundred and top speeding at 130km/h. According to the company, it will be able to get you up to 150kilometers in a single full charge which is about 10kilos less than that of the i-MiEV. Of course, Peugeot has banked on the fact that almost 90% of daily trips among motorists usually last about 60kilometers that would be more than sufficient.

Charging of the batteries, like most electric cars could be done using the standard 220V power plugs and will take 6 hours for it to reach its full capacity. If you are short of time, then the 3 phase 380V rapid charger could be used where you would get the battery to 50% capacity in just 15 minutes and if you quick charge it 30 minutes, then it would be 80%. Some of the cool things that come with the iOn is that it is badged with the unique Peugeot logo while you also get automatic headlights, fog lamps and alloy wheels.

Inside the car, you will get a remote control central locking system, electric windows, air conditioning while for entertainment there is a CD player that has MP3 playback capabilities that also includes Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The company is looking to target a wider customer base who are all for mobility and eco-friendly. Peugeot has called it an urban roundabout vehicle which is fitting in a way as it is smaller than a typical sedan but is safe, comfortable and easy to drive. Hence, they have also put in ESP, EBFD, EBA and 6 airbags for safety here.
