Proton Holdings Berhad, the national carmaker has launched the new Proton R3 Satria Neo which typically a limited edition more sporty model of the widely popular hatchback. Priced at RM79,797 for the MT Metallic model, Proton announced that this model is already available for booking in all its Proton Edar showrooms throughout Peninsular Malaysia.
If you like to own one, an RM2,000 booking fee would be required and if you are one of the lucky early birds, you will also be invited to the launch of the car. According to Datuk Syed Zainal Syed Mohamed Tahir, the Group Managing Director of Proton, said that this edition of the R3 Neo is proof of the company’s long involvement and experience in motorsports and this extension will be the first of many upcoming selected models which will be injected with more dynamic elements.
Of course, for all that matters, such a fast car with the racing dynamics would most suit the racing enthusiasts as it is purposely built for that very reason. It comes with the limited units only Fire Red body colour with a black roof and some distinctive features from the other ‘common’ Neos. The engine was given a tweak from the Proton Motorsports Division where the 1.6 liter Campro S4PH engine has been pushed to give you up to 145 horses at 7,000rpm and 168 Nm of torque at 5,000rpm paired with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.
Apart from the lowered car, it also gives you a 2 tone matte red and black interior while they have also given you an R3 limited edition front bucket seats as well. Generally, the red coloured scheme inside the car is designed to complement the red and black body outside, so that is pretty much figured out for you. To top this off, this is not all about a sports car because it also comes with a double-DIN audio system that comes with a 3D GPS Navigation system. Standard features here include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and the likes. Now seriously, unless you are a big fan of the Satria and had always liked its looks and performance, then this might just be the right one for you. After all, if you are the early birds, you would be invited to the launch event where you could be the lucky few to be photographed with Tengku Djan Ley and Faidzil Alang, the star drivers of Proton Motorsports.
