Proton marks 25th Anniversary with Gala dinner

According to Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, the Group Managing Director of Proton, the Proton 25th Anniversary Charity Fund will see the company setting a RM25 for every car sold between April 22 and June 30 where the proceeds will be channeled to some 25 charity organizations. The contribution will then be presented to these organizations at the commemorative gala dinner. The dinner is scheduled to be held on July 9 which is the date of the first model roll out. At the dinner, Proton will be launching its 25th Anniversary Special Edition models that comes with a ‘Tiger’ theme.

Datuk Syed Zainal, who spoke at the launch of the 25th Anniversary logo added that the gala dinner will also see the launch of a commemorative coffee table book, which is a limited edition 5,000 one-off publication. Proton has taken great lengths to ensure that this year is filled with events to make its 25th Anniversary celebrations known and hence the gala dinner and the launches are part of the year long celebration. The logo for instance was part of the design competition which was won by Rosaidatul Nor Rosli from a subsidiary of Proton Holdings, Miyazu Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Proton also showed its appreciation to 651 employees who have been with the company since the beginning where they were presented with a special gift. They are known as the ‘Proton Pioneers’. Having been able to become a major force in the market both locally and regionally, Syed Zainal said that the time is ripe for the company to take on new challenges and to take on the global competition. Proton surely has come a long way since its humble beginning where they ‘borrowed’ Mitsubishi’s technology to what it becomes today where they have their own engines as well as being the parent company of Lotus.
