They were built particularly for the third season of the LMP1 racing season by Cadillac and the second generation models were designed with a 4.0 liter Northstar V8, twin turbo-charged engine by Nigel Stroud. The car finished ninth and twelfth at the Le Mans and the 600 horsepower monster was built based on the one which was used in the Indy Racing League by Opel when they used it for the German Touring Car Championship. It also finished second on the Miami ALMS race. No more models were developed after that as GM (General Motors) cancelled the project as they could not keep up with other manufacturers (Audi) in the Le Mans competition.
