It was a great race for Webber who won the race despite having to use an older chassis as compared to his compatriot where he was ‘forced’ to use an older ‘front wing’. McLaren F1’s Lewis Hamilton had a great race where he finished second, 2 spots better than when he started. Nico Rosberg of Mercedes F1 finihsed third. Rosberg had to shake off the attacking onslaught of Jeson Button who eventually finished fourth.
Down the pecking order is Ruben Barcichello on the Williams who finished fifth while Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber took the sixth spot. Adrian Sutil of Force India, who has had a remarkable season finished just below Vettel. Sutil is currently the tenth best driver in the championship. 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher only managed ninth place, which is about the position he has been finishing all season while another German, Nico Hulkenberg of Willaims finished tenth.
Another Force India’s driver, Vitantonio Liuzzi followed suit. It was a race to be forgotten for Ferrari F1 where its drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa only managed to finish on thirteenth and fourteenth, just 2 spots ahead of our own Lotus Racing’s Heiki Kovalainen and Jarno Truli. Again our boys did better than all the rest of the rookies where Virgin’s Timo Glock finished 18th while Hispania Racing’s Karun Chandok and Sakon Yamamoto both finished the race. They were the last drivers to cross the chequered flag while the rest had to retire.
This means that Hamilton leads the drivers’ standings with 145 points ahead of team mate Jenson Button who has 133 points. Red Bull’s Webber and Vettel are not too far away with 128 and 121 points respectively. Alonso in the Ferrari is 98 points, while Schumacher is only at ninth with 36 points, 1 point above Sutil.
