Renault is one of the iconic brands from France. It is an automotive company which has been around for more than a century now. Renault was founded by in 1899 by Louis Renault, Marcel Renault and Fernand Renault where it is involved mainly in automobiles, commercial vehicles and luxury cars.
In 2013, Renault rolled out more than 2.7 million vehicles where Nissan, one of the largest automotive players in the world and Daimler AG both have some stakes in the French outfit. Through its recent initiative and aggressive marketing campaign, Renault has grown and became more successful where in 2011, it was recorded as the third biggest Europe automaker by production. In 2011, Renault was the ninth biggest automaker in the world.
Renault’s headquarters is in Boulogne-Billancourt in France where it owns a controlling stake in Japan’s Nissan. Apart from production of vehicles and cars, Renault is one of the top players in the motorsports industry where it has been performing well in the Formula 1 World Championship and many other major events.
In Malaysia, Renault is marketed under the Tan Chong Group which is the authorized distributor for Nissan vehicles as well by virtue of its international linkage. Renault cars are marketed under the Tan Chong Euro Cars Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the group and are involved in selling passenger cars like the Renault Clio, Megane, Fluence and the Koleos while it operates a nationwide service centers and showrooms that are catered for the Malaysian market as well.
