Sold at RM2.05 per liter, the RON97 fuel is ‘designed to give motorist improved power and performance’ which can be used by any car. According to Azman Ismail, the Managing Director of Shell, the company decided to develop this fuel grade because of the response and feedback from drivers in the country who wants a more affordable performance fuel.
He said that the new V-Power 97 is designed to give the driver better acceleration as well as reduce friction between the engine’s moving parts which in turn result in better fuel efficiency and more power. It uses the FMT (Friction Modification Technology) additive, which is the same material used by Ferrari in their Formula One cars competing in the F1 Grand Prix competition.
The fuel will be replacing the current standard RON97 fuel in the over 750 Shell petrol stations around the country. Azman added that the difference between the new V-Power RON97 and other fuel is that it is mainly meant for higher enhanced performance and constantly cleans the engine when the car is active. He also said that the current top-of-the-range Shell V-Power fuel will still be available in more than 40 Shell stations located in the capital and in the southern state of Johor.
The RM2.05 per liter price is the same as the standard RON97 price currently available in Shell stations and you will easily notice the red coloured pump nozzles which are being used. As part of the campaign, Shell also recently had their ‘pit crew’ who were dressed in red overalls stationed at the petrol pumps to ‘educate’ motorists on the advantages of the new fuel. The campaign is currently on-going and will continue until the end of July so if you spot any of them around the stations, take the opportunity to learn more about what your car can benefit from the new V-Power 97.
