Smart ForTwo still holds a place in our hearts

The 2009 Smart ForTwo Cabriolet is essentially a cute car. Really. No doubt about it, you will surely know about this long before any reviews were released. And in saying cute, we don’t mean cute cuddly but cute because it is small, whizzy and bubbly. If you have seen the previous versions, then you will know what we are talking about there.

Let’s get things very straight before hand. This car is superb if you are lacking in space, do not like driving big cars, hates to maneuver parking and such and of course, do not have a big family. Otherwise, any other car is better. As its name suggests, ForTwo means this car is practically made for 2 passengers. Period.

One thing for sure, driving this car attracts attention. And lots of it. There really isn’t much to shout about except that this car is small but its design is loud. Whichever way you look at it, the Smart ForTwo essentially is what you see is what you get. If you have equipments and such, then look elsewhere. It is a great car to drive to work, for a drink with friends and that is pretty much it.

This colourful car is one thing you will appreciate especially if you are one who do not like a lot of systems on-board. It seemed basic although the car is quite highly invested in design. You will notice and pretty much appreciate the higher seating position and the large windows. If you are driving with the top down, then you will have less cargo space but otherwise it would be quite a breeze.

Under the hood, the Smart ForTwo comes with its 3 cylinder 1.0 liter engine which gets you from zero to hundred in 12 seconds. It boosts out some 70 horses and is fitted with a 5 speed automatic gearbox. This car comes with paddle shifters and perhaps the size of the car makes it jerky sometimes but otherwise at higher speeds, the ForTwo seemed to be quite stable and performs pretty well. Either way you look at it, you will notice the size of this car and discover that driving it can be fun although you will be attracting some unwanted stares here and there.
