The S4 really is a beefed up sporty edition of the A4 which essentially is an entry-level sports sedan version. One stage higher would be the RS4 which is set to go against other brands like the BMW M3, the Lexus IS-F and Mercedes Benz C63 AMG. Hence the S4 is set to go head to head with the Benz C350, the BMW 335i and xi versions as well as the Lexus IS350.
The S4 gets to where its competitors are by deploying an all-wheel drive system which are all used by the other runners apart from the 335xi. This car comes with a 3.0 liter TFSI V6 engine which was originally unveiled with the Audi A6 and it gets you up to 11.6PSI with its 6 cylinders which means at 5,500rpm you get up to 333 horsepowers and a 325 pound-feet torque between 2,900 and 5,300rpm. It is also paired with its own 7 speed dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission gearbox which is gives you quite an impressive gear shifting which is smooth and almost flawless. At over 300 horses, getting you from zero to hundred in 4.9 seconds might leave you a bit more to be desired really but what you cannot get in acceleration, you get it back evenly on handling. One thing for sure, its acceleration is the same whichever transmission you use.
The most distinctive feature in this car really is not in its acceleration because being naturally an all-wheel drive car, you will like the stability and assurance it gives you when you take turn and such but ultimately, it is the sheer driving pleasure which came up short in the previous versions and successfully addressed in this model. Whichever way you see it, this is one sporty vehicle which you will not feel obligated in any way to take for s spin but which you actually look forward to driving.
