The first 4 seater convertible version to ever come out of Maserati’s stable, it made it debut at the recent Frankfurt International Auto Show. This would complete the 3 product lines to be produced by Maserati, which forms the third angle of the Trident, the other 2 being GranTurismo and the Quattroporte. Where the GranCabrio is the convertible product, the GranTurismo is the coupe and the Quattroporte is the sedan.
You cannot mistaken the Pininfarina design that comes within this open top car. Seriously, the design and all that comes within this line is not for the faint of heart. In fact, it is for those who know what quality really is. While all the previous convertible models are mainly 2 seaters, this one is where you get a comfortable space which sits 4 passengers. So serious is Maserati about this that the GranCabrio is actually the first time ever that their Viale Ciro Menotti Maserati factory actually produced a 4 seater top down model.
Under the hood is where you get the 4.7 liter V8 engine which is powered through its 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox. Also fitted into this car is the HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist) which is a totally new addition to this car.
Of course, if you are wondering, this car is not all about speed because the people at Maserati has taken great lengths to ensure that all 4 passengers enjoy the ride everytime they climb onto one. Inside the car, you get the BOSE powered audio system which not only gives you excellent sound quality inside but when the top is down as well. Skyhook suspension come standard with Brembo discs too included.
To be honest, nothing really comes close to this car if you are to benchmark it with anything because there really aren’t any cars to compare it with. If you really want to, then a Ferrari could be used but then again, both are a class on their own and in many compartments, the Maserati GranCabrio is pretty independently unmatched.
