This time around, brace yourselves as the 1Malaysia Formula 1 team comes with our very own engine under the Lotus Engineering T127 machine and of course under the stewardship of team principal Datuk Seri Tony Fernandez who is also the Air Asia boss. Behind the wheels are Jarno Trulli and Heiki Kovalainen. Trulli commented that they would like to look into scoring points although it is easier said than done. Surely that is the case with F1 legend Michael Schumacher back in the fray with the Mercedes F1 team which is sponsored by Petronas.
Whichever the case, all eyes will be on the Sakhir Circuit this Friday as all the teams except for USF1 gearing up for the starting race of the grueling season. Fernandes said "We are all looking forward to Bahrain, to have Lotus Racing on the grid will be a momentous occasion for all involved and, indeed, for our fans, whose support has been absolutely fantastic since we launched just under six months ago. Yes we are a little slower than the major leading teams. However, we will get there with passion, hard work and a clear vision — our aim for this first Grand Prix will be to finish and steadily but surely improve, race by race."
Of course, that would not be the only thing to watch out for because there would also be the sub-contest between Fernandez and former mentor and fellow competitor Sir Richard Branson with the Virgin F1 team. Then there is the German versus English teams of Mercedes F1 and Mclaren F1 which brings with them Schumacher and Nico Rosberg on the Mercedes and defending champion Jenson Button and former champ Lewis Hamilton with the Mclarens. Surely this season is something to look forward to with all these sub-plots involved.
