Toyota launches third generation Toyota Vitz (or Yaris) for the Japan market

The world’s second largest auto maker Toyota Motors Corporation (TMC) recently launched the third generation Toyota Vitz for the Japan market. If you haven’t already know, the Vitz is known here as the Toyota Yaris. This is where you get a bigger model as compared to its previous generation. The new version is now longer by 35mm and is 100mm longer and slightly lower.

While the Yaris seemed to target very well for the ladies, the new generation seemed to be more suited for both male and female drivers which first came into the scene back in 1999 when the first generation was launched. Since then, it has been steadily climbing up in terms of popularity where it is now present in more than 70 countries around the world and has rolled out more than 3.5 million units. Having said that, the Vitz is still very much popular in its home soil Japan where they have some 1.4 million units buzzing around there.

The new model however was developed based on the demands of today’s drivers and is based on Toyota’s new definition of an ideal compact car which looks small on the outside but has a lot of space on the inside. Somehow that is still what the Yaris is known for and with their new model, this is where the Toyota Stop & Start system comes into play on its fuel efficiency. Toyota is looking to target to sell some 10,000 units monthly of this model which comes in 4 different grades and 17 exterior colours to choose from. Inside the car, you can also choose among the 4 interior colour choices.

The new Vitz will be rolled out through Toyota’s Nagakusa manufacturing plant where they want to promote the car with a sporty and comfortable persona. The rear seats are foldable into a 6:4 configuration with a more cargo space function. It will also be the world’s first vehicle to fit in the UV-reducing glass that is able to reduce up to 99% of ultraviolet rays. A HDD Navigation system is also included in this model while under the hood, you will get the 1.3 liter Dual VVT-I (Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) engine mated with the Super CVT-i (Super Continuously Variable Transmission-intelligent) gearbox. At the moment, it is still meant for the Japan market and let’s hope it gets to our shores pretty soon.
