Toyota recalls do not affect Malaysian models

Back in Malaysia, the distributor of Toyota cars, UMW Toyota Motor has officially announced that the recall exercise will not affect the models which they are distributing. According to their statement, TMS (Toyota Motor Sales) US had on 21 January 2010, released an official statement which recalled some 2.3mllion vehicles which involved 8 of their models as well as a follow-up statement which suspended the sales of the mentioned models.

It was reported that the models involved include RAV4, Corolla, Matrix, Avalon, Camry, Highlander, Tundra, and Sequoia. UMW, however confirmed that Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan informed them that all the models of Toyota and Lexus models sold by UMW are not affected and not involved and that the faulty sticky pedals would only involved Toyota models meant for the American market and not those in the Malaysian market.
